AJF ECD/EDUCARE and AFTERCARE programmes are primarily aimed at these centres in the rural and coastal towns that receive no support from government or other NPO’s and big business. We do however also assist a few centres in the Metropole townships. These centres are those that have “fallen through the cracks”. They are to a large extent run by grandmothers and mothers in these impoverished areas. Some do have the necessary qualifications whilst most are willing to learn and improve their skillsets to enable them to be more productive with the learners.
Our first port of call is to visit those centres who reach out to us and we then do an assessment of their requirements. However, even on the first visit ,we take along basic things like crayons ,worksheets etc.
Once we ascertain the needs, we endeavour to assist to the best of our ability. We do not contribute to infrastructure and construction of buildings. We will however utilise our network who in turn could be willing to assist where possible.
Our ECD division is currently headed up by our two retired Principals ,Jamiel Alexander and Bayer Laattoe and supported by a few younger university graduates.
